How Buzzword Grading Works

Reviewing your grade

After you submit an answer, matched buzzwords are highlighted like this and missed ones are highlighted like this in the rule statement below your answer. If you think the grading got one wrong, click the highlighted word to toggle it between matched and missed.

Editing a card's buzzwords

Click the pencil icon next to "Rule Statement" to change which phrases are graded as buzzwords for this card:

Click the × on a highlighted phrase to delete an irrelevant buzzword.
Highlight (select) any other text in the rule statement with your mouse to add it as a new buzzword.
Click Save when you're done, or Cancel to discard your changes.

Heads up: buzzword and card edits are universal — saving here changes what every visitor sees and is graded against, not just you.

What this is

A drill tool for CA bar exam rule statements. Pick a topic, answer out loud or by typing, and get graded against a model rule statement's key buzzwords.

Functionality

Filter the deck by topic, shuffle it, or drill only cards you've previously missed.
Speak your answer (Chrome/Edge only) or type it, then submit for grading or reveal the answer directly.
Grading highlights which buzzwords you hit and missed, and you can correct a highlight by clicking it.
Flag cards to revisit later from the "Flagged" pool at the top of the sidebar.
Sign in to sync your correct/incorrect progress and flags across devices; signed-out progress only lasts the current tab.
Use "Edit Cards" to add, edit, reorder, or delete topics and cards — changes there are visible to every visitor.

Limitations & accuracy

Grading is done by an AI model matching your answer against a curated list of buzzwords, not full legal reasoning — it can occasionally miss a valid paraphrase or credit a phrase used out of context. Card content and buzzwords are human-curated and may contain errors or omissions.

This is a study aid, not a substitute for authoritative bar prep materials. If grading is temporarily unavailable, you'll be asked to self-grade by clicking the buzzwords you got right yourself.
